MSDNAA Licensing Terms (excerpt from "ELMS for MSDNAA Turnkey Software Distribution & Management System, October 2002"), please check out the full version from the ELMS for msdnaa site:

"ELMS is designed to handle the licensing terms you are agreed to upon becoming an MSDNAA member. In ELMS, students must agree to the standard Microsoft EULA before they are able to download or check out CD media. ELMS also tracks orders placed by every student and restrict the number of times a student can order each product. Based on the terms of the MSDNAA license agreement, students are restricted to ONE order per product. They can also request additional installs from their Program Administrator if required."

Download instructions:

1    After you received an email from e-academy (your course instructor will request an ELMS for MSDNAA logon account for you, if needed), you can visit the provided URL (use Internet Explorer) and logon with your password which listed in the email.

2    Click on the "Software" button, a list box and snapshots of featuring software boxes will be shown.

3    Select the appropriate item, make sure you see "Free!" showing on the item for download option.

4    Click on "Get it!". View the whole "MSDN Academic Alliance -- Student User Guidelines". Click "I Agree" if you agree all the terms. Then click on "Next".

5    If the item needs a product/activation key, it will show on screen. So make note of it. You will need it later. You are allowed to download an item once only.

6    Click on "Download Software" and "Open", and then a ~400KB pilot file will start to download to your local hard drive. Save it to, say C:\TEMP.

7    Launch the pilot file from your local hard drive (e.g. from C:\TEMP), it will start the download of the actual item you need. After downloaded the file, click "Launch Install" to start the setup.

8    Only some of the items allow you to save and burn it to a CD. Otherwise, the Setup.exe will start to install the software to your machine. Never copy the software or product key to any other people since the product already licensed to you, which is not transferable.

Note: Please note that the subject of the initial email message from e-academy should read "Welcome to MSDN Academic Alliance: Online Software System". Sender is "MSDNAA User Registration [mailto:system_mail@e-academy.com]". Your junk/spam filter may treat it as a junk email, so please check your Delete box or your specified folder if you can't find it from your Inbox.
